Either way, why else would there be that is disclaimer? That's not me speaking, that's the news organization in both instances, and not the police to my knowledge.

New information is out. Turns out Ray was under court order to pay restitution for previous robberies. He had about a week left. So he was robbing this place to pay for his previous robbery conviction.

Police have caught the accomplice. In a statement to police:

"man we were just there man. Ray was just helping some dude get off the floor when THEY SHOT HIM! He hit the ground so hard his own gun just dropped to the floor and he dropped 10 watches and 12 wallets. Then for some reason some crazy dude starts shooting at me and in self defense I shot back. We were just there man doing nothing"

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake police have identified a man who was killed while attempting to rob a sports bar Friday night.

Davis says her grandson got mixed up with the wrong crowd. While she doesn't condone his behavior, she wants the public to respect her family in this time of grief.

"I'm not trying to sweet-coat nothing," said Davis. "He went in there to rob the place, but eventually he got killed is the result of it."

Mason is very saddened by the death, "I'm very sorry about the death, but that's what happens when you rob people."
