RKBA Knowledge is Power: An Introduction and Interest Survey.

Good day to you, reader. In the first installment of the upcoming series of posts "RKBA Knowledge is Power", it is my goal to establish the beginning of a vast undertaking that I believe will aid in the furthering of discussion of firearms through the RKBA board, and hopefully D.U. proper by extension. This project will be one of research, development and ongoing discussion and hopefully user input, wherein a topical post is created and arguments both for and against the point in question will be proposed and discussed in a civil and respectful manner (A guy can hope, yes?)

The "Knowledge is Power" series is designed to identify and confront claims made on both sides of a dispute, establishing a clear-cut dialogue and base of knowledge from which proponents of a topic may gather and exchange ideas freely. "RKBA Knowledge is Power" is intended to be as absolutely -factual- as possible on the topic of the right to bear arms, without discussions pertaining to morality or false extrapolations based on idealistic views. In other words... When you say something, cite it.

I will stress that again: Cite your sources. If you do not cite a claim, "Prove it" is an acceptable and indeed preferred response.

This post is a survey of interest. While I will likely go through with the "RKBA: Knowledge is Power" segment regardless of overall interest, if the community dialogue is stagnant or mild in regards to the topic, I will refrain from posting my personal findings in a specific format. While I prefer overall community discussion as a whole, it is not entirely necessary.

Thank you for your time, and any resulting responses. I will be around for a few hours after this posting, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Every work of art ever made had two basic components: form and content. Form is anything you can point at (cite), content is why it is made or what it means. Good luck and God's speed to you, but if you ignore why people fee the way they do about the issue don't expect many minds to change.

Here's a cite just to pull your chain a bit.

having degenerated into culture war. A more productive endeavor would be to find out the players and passions behind the XXX billboard gun ban in the DNC Platform; there is a spitefulness and provocation here that goes beyond source citation.

Gun control is an eminently elitist outlook. As Zora Neale Hurston would instruct, look at invective and metaphor and you'll come closer to the truth.

Is this endeavor for a foundation, news organization, or other entity?
