D.C. Sniper Court Victory Helps Reform Gun Industry and Save Lives

(Long Island, N.Y.) Ten years ago this month, on the evening of October 14, 2002, a 47-year-old woman was loading her car after shopping at Home Depot in Falls Church, Virginia, when gunfire came out of nowhere, and she was shot dead, in front of her husband. Her name was Linda Franklin. She was an FBI analyst, and a mother of two.

Linda was one of 13 people shot that month by the D.C.-area snipers, who were arrested October 24.

You see, those three weeks in October were fairly typical in terms of gun violence in America.

In the 10 years since those shootings, about 1 million people have been shot in America, about 300,000 lost their lives. Imagine the governmental response if those guns were fired by terrorists or some enemy force.

Fortunately...The "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act", was passed shortly thereafter to prevent these frivolous and abusive lawsuits by the Brady Campaign and their ilk from ever happening again.

Bushmaster Firearms of Windham, Maine, agreed to pay $550,000 to eight plaintiffs. Bull's Eye Shooter Supply of Tacoma, where the snipers' Bushmaster rifle came from, agreed to pay $2 million.

Kelly Corr, the attorney representing Bushmaster, said the company made ''no admission of liability whatsoever."

He said Bushmaster and its insurance company, which will pay the $550,000, decided to settle rather than continuing to run up legal fees in court. Corr said the settlement will not change the way Bushmaster conducts business.

''Bushmaster believes it is a responsible manufacturer," he said.

As part of the settlement, though, Bushmaster agreed to educate its dealers on gun safety.

Oh...right....those lefties with Brady are not aligned with your views on guns. Keep reading the GOP's NRA sound bites who pose a threat to the re-election of our President.

there are some lefties, some righties. The Bradys and Sly "Rambo" Stallone are among the righties. I don't know about the current guy, but Paul Helmke is a Republican.

Imagine indeed but I would argue the majority are terrorists in their own way. What is the definition of terror if not to inflict terror.
