Kannapolis to limit handguns in parks

KANNAPOLIS - The N.C. General Assembly voted last year to widen concealed-carry permit holders' rights to bring firearms to public places, including city and state parks.

Now, Kannapolis has joined other cities in limiting where those concealed handguns may be carried.

The Kannapolis City Council unanimously approved a proposed ordinance presented by city staff members earlier this week.

Under the new law, concealed-carry firearms are banned anywhere within 20 feet of certain "recreational areas," as defined under state law.

Sounds like the people need to make their voice known the desire of a few shouldn't override the people's safety.

So afraid of weapons and yet utterly dependent on those who carry them to protect you. It would be amusing if it wasn't so sad.

Yawn. If I was scared, I'd have a gun! But only the "tough" (read: scared to venture anywhere without protection) Delicate Flowers have them, and the "wimpy, scared" (read: brave enough to not need a gun) Liberals see no need to carry them around.

No, but it seems to be a hobby of yours. Also, you mistake fear for caution and the desire not to be dependent on others. Well actually you're trolling but for the sake of argument.... You will never get a rise out of me btw

I enjoy your posts and wish you'd post more often. I cannot think of a better spokesmen for your cause.

I'm not the one so scared of everyday life that I need a gun to feel safe! Super-obvious, but then, Delicate Flowers are indeed delicate.

I love my family too much to be careless with my safety and theirs.

I carry because I care...how much more progressive can one get.

Delicate Flowers say they have guns to guard against guns. They love the NRA Talking Point (AKA Big Lie) that if more people had guns, massacres and murders of the public by other Delicate Flowers could be stopped!

Hilarious how the spin from the Delicate Flowers is, like, the exact opposite of logical.

You can't throw around public safety like it's a magical spell.

You ought to be willing to provide evidence to back such a claim.

Because public safety has been used as justification for a lot of things. Like clean water (good) and rounding ethnic Japanese in to concentration camps (bad), mass immunizations (good) and the Tuskegee experiments (bad).

Provide evidence that this is one of the good ones and not one of the hysterical responses based on ignorance and fear.
