How to drive RW gun nuts around the bend-advice from Susan Bankston

...hear me out, because you’re gonna think this is a bad idea. You know, like people thought my drive-through liquor stores were a bad idea. Okay, so those were a bad idea, but this isn’t.

We liberals should get handgun permits. You do not have to actually buy an actual gun; you just have to get the permit.

Here’s how it works. You get your permit and hang it around your neck, put on your T-shirt with Castro Rocks!, PETA, Guns for Gays, or Malcolm X on the front, and go to a gun show.

don't ask how we got them...and walked up and down the streets monk-chanting "Robertson for President." Guess that gives a range of years as well. My non-college townie friends later told me that there was a *serious* debate that night about whether shotguns with rock salt were needed for us. I was told it came down to me being there making the difference.

Naw, in my opinion there are lots better ways to be subversive. Despite my teasing them here most gun owners are cool and even have great senses of humor -- but it only takes that one true believer to take it as a challenge and escalate it back...

That would mean that you would have take the classes - in most states. You would then discover that much of what you thought you knew about guns & self-defense law was wrong. You would have to actually shoot the gun to qualify. You might discover that you liked shooting. Some ranges require NRA membership to use the range so you might even have to join the NRA.

I solidly support every anti-gunner getting their CCW permit.

you have to be alive before anything else matters...

As least having the ability to own and carry a firearm evens the odds a little in your favor. The 2A along with CHP/CC laws help assure you have the ability to refuse to be a victim.

If CC isn't an option OC should always be legal...all progressives should support a strong second amendment and laws that allow a self defense safety device to be carried in public.

Here's a person that obviously has little to no contact with the "gun culture", assumes that all gun owners and CCW permits are held by the GOP and offers a typical smart ass solution to what she and her handful of friends see as "the problem".

Then, when nothing happens, she'll be outraged and pat herself on the back for being so brilliant.

Thanks to dumbass people like her and our own resident gun grabbers the NRA will be doing fine for quite a while yet.

Has anyone else found it ironic that over the past few weeks we've had all kinds of posts calling for "assault weapon" bans and "large clip" bans from the same people that keep telling us that "no one wants to ban your guns"?

she lives in one.

Her and all her friends "know" how gun owners think not by actually talking to any but by making assumptions and agreeing with each other on those assumptions.

Just like how white-supremacists know that Jews spend all their time plotting to take over the world. Not because they've ever actually met one but because Cletus said something like that then John-boy agreed with him and the whole gang thought it sounded right.

/also she has to ignore the unbiased statistics that show there are quite a few liberals who own guns as well.

I think there is a large group of "gun control fans" that think it's perfectly OK to ban and even confiscate guns or normal capacity magazines that they decide are "evil".

And as long as they let you have a .22 revolver or .410 break open shottie, it doesn't count as a gun ban.

In the meantime I'm still waiting to hear what Schumer is willing to "give up" to reach the "compromise" he's asking for? I won't hold my breath on it though.

It's based on the assumption that people support the 2nd amendment to stick it to liberals. Or some such nonsense.

Likely they'd be happy to know that they are getting broader support and assuming you stay out of politics you'd have something to talk about.

This makes as much sense as saying you could drive pro-choice people nuts by showing up to support them with a "Christians for choice" sign. Because they're like totally doing it just to stick it to those Christians. Once some cross over the picket line the protesters will just go home because they didn't really care about abortion access, just in getting back at people they don't like.

Doesn't make much sense does it?

to belly up to the partisan trough and stick two feet in it. By all means make a quick buck vomiting up smarmy sarcasm at the expense of your political allies. Yep, that'll show em'. I hope she gets her membership card in the 1% club before somebody else beats her to it. There are obviously only a limited number of slots and a lot smarter people than her are trying to use Rovian political douchebaggery to fuck us over.

I've been to a few gun shows, and even here in deep blue Maryland, far-right ideologies drown out the rest at these events. I would love, LOVE if more liberal gun owners made ourselves stand out at gun shows, at ranges, at shops, on the street, etc. I suspect there are more armed Dems than the right thinks, and bold individuals can bring us out of hiding. No party should be allowed to own the 2A cause, and we've let them do it for too long.

The RKBA should never be a political football.
Our previous governor, Ted Strickland, understood that principal. I went to the range with him once : )

and I have to say that if she in fact did what she described, nobody at the gun show would have any fear of her except the fear that she will keep talking nonsense to them. They would look at her as if she was absolutely nuts and then pretty much ignore her. Like others have said, I think it would be a good thing for all anti-gun people to go through the class and training to get a CCW permit. In Minnesota, they would be required to handle and shoot a handgun. I suppose they could rent one, depending on the location of the class.

in MN have an extra handgun or two, that they bring along on class day, for people who don't own one yet.
I'ts not uncommon for folks here in MN to take the class before committing $500.00 or more to the purchase of a handgun. Many here also take basic handgun oriented self defense classes, before making the decision to purchase a handgun, it's a great way to help
determine , if owning a handgun is really the right decision for some people, or what type of handgun best suits their needs.

As for the Lady who had such a "great idea" that she thought she would share it with everyone... Please continue, after wading through your rather incoherent gibberish, i am pretty sure you are harming your own cause.
