The Illinois Constitution does not allow for petition driven referendums for voters. They did not allow for any form of recall either until last year, after the Blago fiasco.

CCW will come from either the court case in the appellate courts now ... or the Downstate Dems telling Rahm and Madigan (Spkr of the House) to go fuck himself.

especially in Madigan's case. NO ONE crosses Madigan. Just go ask Blago.

Contrary to what his press people say, he will not live forever.

At some point, even Madigan may realize it's not a battle worth fighting anymore if it loses him votes from the Downstaters that he needs for other issues. Plus, when Madigan goes, IMNSHO, Lisa won't be far behind "leaving the building". She just doesn't seem to be "Dynasty" material and hasn't really endeared herself with the people for any reason that I can see.

Rahm is going to look at what fighting Daley's anti gun battles is costing the city in more big fat 6 and 7 figure checks to the NRA, SAF and ISRA. He'll eventually decide that maybe cramming a millions more in legal fees down the endless legal rathole isn't worth it. He'll quietly agree to some compromise for CCW.

What I've never understood, with every state around Illinois allowing it and none of the promised disasters and shoot outs occurring, why are these guys so afraid of it? Is it keeping the peasants in their place, or what?

If those idiot aldermen are allowed to carry and they haven't shot up Gene & Georgetti's before a Hawks or Bulls game, why would they think the law abiding citizens that are willing to jump through the legal hoops, background checks, training etc. to qualify for a permit are a danger?

I've spent what adds up to years in Southern Illinois....good people bound up by one city basically.
