Just a simple question here.

What is the Democratic Party's official stance on gun control?

From this site (2008) http://www.issues2000.org/Democratic_Party.htm#Gun_Control
"Reauthorize assault weapons ban, close gun show loophole. (Jul 2004)
Strengthen gun control to reduce violence. (Aug 2000)

This site dos not even mention gun control.

http://www.qnc.us/dems/Democratic-Platform-Summary-2012.doc

So what is the party's commitment to gun control? Where is it written?

They really haven't done jack shit about it over the past four years.

I think they realize that there are a lot more important things facing the country than trying to restrict citizens' access to firearms.

what would become of our group here then?

I think some of our resident anti-gun zealots would need to up their meds if that happened.

talk about their Kimbers, military style rifles, the number of guns they own and all the time it takes at the range to be proficient at shooting, can't afford the price of just one box of shells to spend hours a day, more time than they spend at to range, can't afford a small donation? Not necessarily you, but the majority of the radical gun rights people that post on this forum?

at least, lets hope so. Who knows how many seats have been lost in swing districts, particularly in rural areas, because of the party's support for gun control...You can make a good case that Al Gore's loss in 2000 can be attributed to his support for gun control as well.

It's time the Democratic party kicked the Brady Campaign and all the rest of their authoritarian anti civil liberty buddies to the curb..

The last time I read the Democratic party platform, I think it was the 2010 platform, it still called for gun control. I tried to google it but could not find it again.

This is HUGE. It is tremendously awesome if the Democratic party has formally and fully dropped gun control!

What a huge win for killing a wedge issue!

I can't wait to share this with all my pro-gun conservative friends.

I meant it in the same spirit of Combat Camera legend Joseph Longo "The brave ones shot bullets; the crazy ones were shooting film"

Meaning, crazy is super brave, a good thing. I like to think we are all that crazy at the range.
