Trump tries to play on unreasonable fears among gun enthusiasts

One of the great ironies of American culture is that many of the self-styled tough guys who parrot the rhetoric of the National Rifle Association actually are nervous nellies who believe virtually all of the conspiratorial nonsense about plots to take away guns.

For example, all through Barack Obama's tenure as president, the scaredy-cats have bought into every ridiculous warning that the man in the White House spends his every waking hour on plans to send out an army of jack-booted thugs to seize everyone's firearms.

It hasn't happened yet, and it won't happen. But the gun nuts are still afraid. Indeed, fear is mother's milk to those people. They're not happy if they're not afraid.

Donald Trump, guru to the politically unsophisticated, understands this reality. And he's using it to attack Hillary Clinton.

Citing Donald's biography, I'm not sure how anyone could label him anything other than a controller of the highest order...in more ways than one.

With that said, I do think Hillary made some political mistakes with gun control in an effort to contrast herself with Bernie. I support her, and acknowledge it for what it is...politics. But she did state she disagrees with SCOTUS on Heller and she did dance around with the notion of Australian style gun control. However, it now looks like the pivot is in progress as she recently made some statements about being mindful of the 2A.
