Gun Supporting VA GOP Gov Fails to Condemn Gun Riders but "Supports Budget Autonomy"

More double talk this time from the political right regarding guns and budget autonomy in DC. What the heck is autonomy if every Tom, Dick and Harry (and a few on this board) have more rights to make gun laws than those being governed as is the case in DC.

From Today's Washington Post Editorial Page

http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/mr-mcdonnells-neighborly-aid-for-the-district/2012/02/29/gIQA32cZlR_story.html

How can there ever be a Second Amendment if you have no right to participate in a Government to change or affirm that Amendment, any Amendment, or any law? That's not freedom; that's tyranny.

Who is us?

Should all constitutional gun laws be written on the local level rather that by members of Congress?

There is nothing civil about using profanity directed at this forum or a poster you disagree with.

What's disruptive is when someone wants to talk about something other than the topic of the board. Unlike some, I don't need to report 'an alert' to confirm whether I'm right or wrong.

When you are ready to talk about the original post, let me know. Do you agree with the Governor's position on gun riders in DC? Do you agree with the GOP position? Is a there a difference between GOP and the Democrats position or even your position?

You mean like whining about not having voting rights in the District of Columbia in nearly every thread in the Gun Group?

you want to talk about staying on topic (guns) but in every other thread you are going on about not guns but why you don't get a vote for president or house rep or senator. Thats hypocritical.

You seem to want to make your comments about me personally rather than about guns in the context of your life. Let's try to elevate the conversation. I'm not prefect which is more than you have conceded.

PS- you might be surprised to learn I agreed with the pro-gun ruling in Maryland yesterday.

PSS- Have you ever agreed with any gun law that puts restrictions on you! for the better good?

I am all for background checks when purchasing a gun. A law that was pushed through by pro gun advocates.

Those riders would have had none of the ill-effects the pearl clutchers said they would when they shelved the legislation before. Despite all their noise those laws are weakening anyway. Seems 80% of the population there supported the measure as written too.

No.....I have absolutely not 'whined' as you suggest about voting rights on this board.

What I have tried to do is point out the hypocrisy of a gun supporting GOP governor who supports local autonomy but fails to condemn congressional GOP gun riders for DC.

I'll stay on topic and try not to make this personal if you do the same.

While the link only tangentially mentions DC's gun laws, fightthegoodfightnow was clearly attempting to focus on the unique case of the District and how it is managed by both the Congress and local residents regarding those gun-control laws.

In this regard, it is within bounds of the SoP.

......well you go ahead and express you 'feelings' and profanity in an attempt to disrupt the board by posting something that has nothing to do with guns.

Let me know when you want to talk about the moral relativity of strict GOP Constitutionalists (like Virginia's Governor) who argue for local autonomy and against Congress making any gun law even as his GOP Congressional delegation attaches riders to DC legislation and use the central federal authority to ram gun policies down the throats of DC citizens.

Or you could post your pictures.

This Board Not About DC. It's about guns in DC.

As a non resident if you have something to say about guns in DC post it here or tell your Member of Congress. Everyone else does.
