OK, what are we supposed to do about Starbuck's now?

"Trump calls for Starbuck's Boycott"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027330494

OK, Trump is a pompous a-hole, no discussion needed there.

But, didn't all our friends in gun control demand that we all boycott Starbuck's because they wouldn't ban open or concealed carriers last year?

In fact, I seem to recall one (now banned) member posting their family pictures of just the rear ends of people with guns sitting in Starbuck's and demanding that they be confronted and physically detained for the police by citizens.

Starbuck's said they would go by local laws and that really pissed off the gun control minded people like Mom's Demand Action et. al.

I don't recall anyone saying that the anti gun owner Starbuck's boycott was over.

So, is a Starbuck's boycott now still a good thing if you do it to protest gun owners, but a stupid thing of your do it to boycott their coffee cups? How will Starbuck's know which is which?

Or should we just all buy Starbuck's to piss off Trump?

I need a scorecard.

Has their management capitulated to your demands yet?

I haven't seen any "No Guns Allowed" signs at any yet.

That's what the psychologists refer to as Egocentric based thinking. Assuming everyone, or even most people, think exactly like you do.

Like the legendary Paulene Kael comments after the election of Richard Nixon; "He can't have won, I don't know anyone who voted for him".

It shows a definite limited world view when you can't accept that the people around you don't think, act or always vote like you do.

If they really did, you'd have at least some gun control to show for all that "support".

"I don't like people with guns around me" That's too bad, because there really isn't anything you can do about it and with concealed carry you'll never know.

But the good news violent crime continues to drop to record lows.

"Some folks think they can shoot a bad guy in a crowed store or parking lot. "

Still waiting for that flood of stories of the innocent bystander being gunned down? Or the cops not being able to tell the criminal from the law abiding carrier?

Seems to be more urban myth than reality or we'd be hearing about a lot of that happening.

Man caught urinating on Brooklyn street shoots himself in the groin while trying to ditch gun: police
A strapped 26-year-old man caught by cops taking a leak on a Brooklyn street early Saturday tried to toss his gun away but accidentally blasted himself in the groin, officials said.

Police patrolling E. 93rd St. near Clarkson Ave. in East Flatbush spotted Javier Thomas, urinating about 1:15 a.m., officials said. When Thomas saw the cops approach he tried to discard his 9-mm. Glock — but accidentally pulled the trigger and shot himself in the privates, cops said

Man apparently accidentally shoots his leg during movie at Salina theater

A man was transported to Salina Regional Health Center on Friday night after he apparently accidentally shot himself in the leg midway through a movie at Central Mall.

Salina Police Department watch commander Sean Furbeck said the incident remains under investigation, but the gunshot wound likely was self-inflicted. He said police were not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident, which occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in one of the small theaters behind the ticket sales area.

...She said a man yelled, “Oh, my God! I just shot myself! I just got my concealed carry.”

Revolver Falls Out Of Waistband, Kills Gun Owner — Lessons Need To Be Learned From This

KASILOF, ALASKA — A man accidentally killed himself when his revolver slipped from his waistband while he was working on his truck. According to KTUU 2, the victim died on the scene before medical personnel could treat him for a critical gunshot wound. While tragic, it definitely highlights a reality many gun owners are faced with — how to handle a firearm while working.

Man 'shoots himself in penis and tries to blame black guy'

After the 43-year-old took himself to hospital suffering from a gun shot wound in a place that was particularly painful, he told police that he had been the victim of an attempted hold-up by a “black guy”.

And so officers went to his flat in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, looking for evidence of the attack.

Instead they discovered a witness who told officers he heard screams of pain coming from Mr Watson’s apartment about 1am that morning, according to the Argus Leader.

Just post more irrelevant blather?

Is the Starbuck's anti gun owner boycott still on, or did gun control give up again on it?

Or are you supporting the Trump call for a Starbuck's boycott and how do they tell the difference?

If it's still on what are the results?

And you really need to talk to someone about that penis fixation you seem to have.

Wow, 7 - 0 that's a surprising shut down for one of our ethical "betters" in the Gungeon.

It's tough when you draw a fair, unbiased jury like that. Doesn't fit the narrative.

In all fairness, I did suggest that based on the multiple references re: genitalia, they talk to someone about that penis fixation.

Ooh, that put them over the 5 count and out and I think that a 7-0 gets MIRT attention as well.

suburbanites open carrying to hipster chic reminds me of yuppies who drive Jeeps without going off the road, pretending to be outdoorsey but wouldn't be caught dead in a tent.

To the general public, that image instantly calls to mind Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Newtown. When an otherwise obviously smart and articulate poster says the officer confronting such a person with hand on service pistol is the one being provocative, I can only say “Wow…just…wow.” . . .

Doing things that alarm those people in the middle will do nothing to help the pro-gun side. Fear is the key ingredient that creates hatred. Doing things that put the general public in fear will cause more people to hate us, and anyone who seriously thinks flaunting rifles around schools in cities and suburbs will somehow acclimate the public to an acceptance of armed citizens is simply delusional.

Please, don’t compare the heavily armed guy who video-records himself confronting police to Rosa Parks on a segregated bus. Ms. Parks did not put anyone in fear of their lives. Don’t tell me that “a right not exercised is a right denied,” when we’ve seen confrontational open carry result in stricter laws in California, and hamper the responsible open carry movement in Texas much more recently.

34. I worked with a coffee roaster that showed me why it smells and tastes that way
Wed Nov 11, 2015, 07:28 PM
Nov 2015

Any coffee chain like Starbuck's that has national volume has to buy their beans from a handful of importers and roasters. There are only 4 or 5 that can handle the massive volume they need.

Each chain, Dunkin Donuts, Intelligentsia, Starbuck's, Peets etc., has their own standards and measurements for which blend of beans they will use and how long and at what temperature they roast them. When you go into the warehouse there are big rows of burlap bags with green coffee beans stacked up and labeled; McDonald's, Dunkin, Starbuck's etc.

Starbuck's tends to buy a slightly lower grade of free trade green coffee bean than the other big players and they consciously over roast them slightly. But now they have America's tastes adjusted to that slightly "burnt" flavor,so most younger people think that's normal and the way premium coffee is supposed to taste.

A major trade mag aimed at coffee houses says that if you open a tin of plain old salmon, the smell is very close to high-grade coffee. A local Austin shop, Once Over, grinds their stuff and I get hungry, but not for coffee! Even the barristas doubted the counter-intuitive smell comparison, so I showed them the article in their own trade publication.
