Authorities said the suspect, Samuel A. McCrory, had been spotted toting an AR-15 assault rifle, a handgun and an ax around the city on several occasions in recent months in support of the states open-carry laws. A picture of him aired on KAKE also showed the suspect wearing a mask resembling the Guy Fawkes masks favored by the hacker activist group Anonymous, but police did not identify him as part of the group.
While police could not respond to residents complaints about McCrorys past activities, they took note of him on Wednesday for online posts regarding the murder trial of Kyler Carriker, who was charged in the 2013 death Ronald Betts during a drug deal. Carriker was found not guilty on Thursday.
Is it out of line to storm the courthouse if hes found guilty? the suspect wrote. He later added, If we get a get a decent number of people to charge through the front doors and security, the police there will attack us. Often times [sic], the only way to defend yourself from a cop is to kill the cop which means using a rifle to penetrate the body armor.

(19,497 posts)Since the HPNGC falls within that group you dislike and described as murderers I was wondering if you wanted to put your mouth where your keyboard is. You being a valiant crusader for gun prohibition and all.

(16,974 posts)and to him it means all firearms owners, do you see the outright contempt he has for firearms owners?

(6,498 posts)The really need to stop shooting people.

(16,974 posts)I do not agree with open carry activists but they do not tend to murder people. It is even less with just firearms owners that choose to open carry. Murders are normally carried out by people already prohibited from owning firearms.

(19,497 posts)It's you who are accusing the members of the Huey P. Newton Gun Club of being murderers with no more evidence than the fact they open carry. I'm holding them up as examples of open carriers who do not commit murder thus disproving your ridiculous accusation.
But since you can't deal with facts -- just as you cannot deal with common definitions, legal terms and women who refused to be defenseless when confronted by a rapist -- you retreat to contorted word play; in this instance, hackneyed race-baiting.
Why do you champion a police state that murders people of color? Because that is who will enforce your gun laws and they will have no incentive to stop murdering unarmed citizens --
-- which is why the HPNGC marches with their weapons.

(6,498 posts)I talked about open carry nutcases who murder and threaten murder.
Your mind immediately jumped to Black folks, who you sought to make it all about.

(16,974 posts)Never good or should it be accepted to threaten anyone, even lion killers or firearms owners like has been allowed and has been posted here on DU. I hope you agree that is wrong also, right?
But a keyboard warrior that will probably get off on free speech grounds will probably be the result. I do not care for open carry but am fine with concealed carry. These open carry idiots hurt their own cause in my opinion. I am glad they are very few in number compared to the almost 90 million firearms owners out here.

(10,164 posts)As a security practice, in most cases it's no less stupid (way to make yourself the first target, dumbasses).
I can see a place for open carry out in rural areas: I saw it a lot growing up in Arizona, with people carrying for protection against rattlers, mostly. Never saw the need (if it's rattling at you, you almost certainly have a moment to get the hell away from it...and it it strikes w/o rattling, you're not going to have time for your pistol), but it's not as if it's bothering anyone.
