I don't normally post anything here but this is an article worth reading

strictly for the information content. Yes it is from The Trace but it is neutral on the issue of gun legislation. It has a lot of links to source information and multiple sources.

The Chattanooga Shooter Reportedly Suffered from Mental Illness and Abused Drugs and Alcohol. Only One of Those Has a Clear Link to Gun Violence.

And no, I will not be drawn into a pissing match with the usual suspects. Besides, I have so many on ignore that I only see 1 out of 5 replies anyway.

I don't see how it significantly alters the current firearms debate, and at best, supports the current gun rights status quo.

If there is no proven correlation between mental illness and gun violence, our current system with generally requires significant evidence from the state, proven in court, and subject to appeal and review, before gun rights are curtailed, is not only Constitutionally required, but properly respects the rights of a group themselves subject to scorn and violence.

Other than banning alcohol, which was already a notable Constitutional and public policy failure, the only other recommendation that would immediately follow from the article is greater substance abuse counseling and treatment, which is already supported by most in the gun rights community, here and elsewhere, and without any opposition from groups like the NRA.

It's not just the epistemological closure that fascinates me, it's the pride in announcing it that is truly interesting. Mind you, this is from the group that hooted and cat-called when one of their mods was banned from this group for outright calling people assholes. They were certain that the banning was an admission that his awesomess was just too awesome for the likes of us.

But here we are with another "I've ignored everyone I'm addressing with this post I hope will be controversial" post.

Whatever, dude.

...nothing says victory like burying your head with your fingers in your ears humming as loud as you can.

it's a sad thing
