(26,603 posts)In the case of 2A, I think all people should eventually have the right restored after a period of time: 1, 5, 10, 15, ?? years depending on the original conviction, with the clock restarted upon subsequent offenses...

(18,482 posts)I'm probably okay with that except I think violent felons should be segregated (depending on the type of crime) for life.

(5,455 posts)the vast majority of states in this country and the people who WROTE the Constitution view that ownership of firearms is a civil right.
For an alleged university professor you appear to be very mis-informed on this subject.

(5,455 posts)You are entitled to believe what you like, but that doesn't make your beliefs correct.
For an alleged college professor I'm surprised you don't seem to understand that the United States Constitution, along with many state constitutions, state that ownership of firearms is indeed a civil right.

(6,498 posts)The Right to Vote should never be taken away from anybody under any circumstances.
Incarcerated inmates can easily vote from their prison cells by absentee ballot.
We just need to respect their Civil and Human Right to do so.
Recognizing the Right to Vote as a basic Civil and Human Right would mean allowing inmates ballots in their prison cells, and I fully support this.
There's no need to restore the Right to Vote to anybody. Just don't violate it in the first place.
