Spartanburg Co. sheriff deputy accidentally shoots woman in concealed weapon class

The wife of a Spartanburg County sheriff's deputy was accidentally shot Saturday during a concealed weapons permit class instructed by another deputy.

4. As a function of official training

police spend more time on holster retention than they do on gun safety or marksmanship. I wish I could say this was a surprise, but many departments seem to inculcate arrogance on the part of their officers, and it manifests in many ways....incidents like this, sadly, being one of them.
