The incident that led to the charges against Perryman happened during the pre-dawn hours of October 26, 2010 in San Antonio, TX.
SAPDs tactical response unit was executing a no-knock search warrant. The occupants in the house at the time were Perryman, his girlfriend Rebecca Flores, and Floress 3 year old grand daughter Savannah.
When Flores saw two shadowy men on the security cameras, she woke up Perryman, and tossed him his gun.

(480 posts)Alaska judges do not sign search warrants for misdemeanorx and non-endangering offenses. This did not sit well with Gov Murkowski who tried, and thankfully failed, to make pot possession a felony so as to enable drug sweeps in peoples' homes; it was because children were endangered by this privacy interpretation dotcha know.

(18,318 posts)raids. A deputy was shot & killed doing a no-knock raid on a suspected meth dealer's trailer. A few yrs earlier, a cop from another jurisdiction wasted a suspect at his rural home when the deceased stepped out with an unloaded, unworking M1 carbine to investigate noise. No repercussions. One of the nastier aspects to the WOD.

(10,136 posts)The courts have repeated found that until the cops are ID-ed as cops, they are armed invaders subject to an armed defense just like any other home invaders.
No-knock raids, as well as SWAT teams, get used far too often for things they are not needed for.
