ATF agent discusses challenges of mission

The emphasis on guns has largely eclipsed the other duties the ATF was originally charged with, she said.

“We virtually have no alcohol investigations and very little tobacco investigations,” Strong said. “Sometimes we do up on the East Coast as it relates to tax laws. But our bread and butter is working gun crimes.”

That job is made more challenging by the fact that, unlike laws against things like conspiracy or drug trafficking, no firearm-trafficking law exists in this country — something many people don’t realize, she said.

As a result, ATF goes after “straw purchasers,” legal buyers who purchase the guns for someone else, typically criminals. The guns frequently wind up associated with crimes here or in Mexico. ATF agents try to catch straw buyers lying on purchase forms, she said.

He's been charged with Firearms trafficking by the Feds, among other felonies.

Maybe this agent just didn't get the memo.

Who'd have thunk it.

The worst part, is that people that don't know any better might actually believe them.

6. I'm shocked! Usually BATFE agents are so well informed on the laws they enforce.

He said ironically

But at least these provide people that don't read what they post a source of "volume" so they feel relevant, since he seems to only average 1 response per cut and paste post in his own group.

It must get very lonely down in Bansalot if you're the needy type with only the same 2 or 3 people that respond.

It gets lonely over there, doesn't? Why do you think it is such an ignored forum?

There's a big difference between attacking someone and laughing at their foolish and ineffectual antics.

That's your imagination at work again.

That's the same vivid and strained imagination that thinks cut and paste posting online often enough will somehow achieve the gun control you and your ilk so desperately seek.

This week, while you posted from obscure blogs ... Terry McAuliffe signed three pro gun hunting bills in Virginia, Leland Yee, Cali gun control hero, was indicted for multiple Federal felonies including arms trafficking, Georgia and 2 other states passed pre-emptive gun laws etc. etc.

And what's even worse! Your guys haven't been able to get any pro 2nd people banned in weeks that I've seen. You must have a serious sad down in your safe haven, both of you.

You guys sure have the tide turned.
