The Georgia House of Representatives recently passed legislation that would increase the types of places where guns could be allowed, but one lawmaker said most Georgians don’t support the changes.

"You are aware of the polling data that dictates the views of people in relation to this gun debate," Georgia state Rep. Mary Margaret Oliver, D-Decatur, said during a floor debate concerning House Bill 875. "You are aware 80 percent-plus people don’t support these bills and these measures."

Georgia lawmakers have no business telling churches what to do either way, it isn't their house and there is no compelling State interest. BTW, statistically CCW holders are more law abiding and less stupid with guns than not only the general public, but also the police.

The anti energy here seems to focus on making it so hard to get a permit in the first place rather than restricting what you do with it once you get one. This could be the legacy of the Sullivan Law (1911), with its may-issue policies aimed mostly at insuring that Tammany Hall thugs were the only non-police who could go around armed.
