http://pix11.com/2013/07/27/stevie-wonder-stands-alone-larry-mendte/#axzz2aFcsyiVdDay later someone from the Stevie Wonder camp leaked a list of music stars who were joining the boycott to the American Urban Radio Network. The list included Madonna, Usher, Jay Z, Rihanna, the Rolling Stones, Kanye West and Rod Stewart.
Impressive list .if it was real. One by one, stars on the list were saying "Boycott? What boycott?"
First, a local TV station in Florida reported that the Jay Z and Justin Timberlake concert scheduled for August 16 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami will go on as scheduled, according to an executive with the tour.
Then a source with knowledge of the matter has denied to the Huffington Post that Rihanna is joining the boycott.
And now representatives for the Rolling Stones told Mother Jones that no one with the band had ever even heard of the boycott.
Maybe it was a negligent/accidental discharge.

(18,479 posts)Established popular artists have numerous associates and supporting organizations. These are professionals with livelihoods at stake. I can't blame anyone who's upset by the verdict but blaming Florida collectively is a bit short-sighted. Stevie Wonder is great artist and musician and his decision to avoid Florida is a means to call attention to the need for legislative action.
This misfire that originated close to him is a mistake on someone's part.

(6,057 posts)If the "the boycott isn't working", why are your panties so bunched up?

(18,479 posts)...please stay out everyone's "panties".
It's just a news plop that I found interesting. Judging by those posted by the anti-rights camp, a "point" is optional but not required.
Just out of curiosity, do favor artists and entertainers, such as I mention in the OP, boycotting Florida to call attention to the need for new legislation? Do you favor individuals boycotting Florida as a protest for...anything gun law related?

(6,057 posts)Now why would that be when in the same breath you're claiming the boycott isn't working? If it's "not working", why worry about the "group punishment" aspect?
And as far as your panties bunching up...... that's "self-inflicted" on your part.

(18,479 posts)I'm fascinated by how people see things.
Aren't most things "self-inflicted"?

(6,057 posts)Focused on it enough that you felt you had to start a thread to try to discredit such an action. N'estce pas?
discntnt_irny_srcsm
(18,479 posts)...No, I kinda like the idea at least of the part of entertainers.

(17,502 posts)on this case, why would band tours be any different?

(18,479 posts)IMHO, the media is 90% a waste.

(17,502 posts)that Stevie Wonder was boycotting all SYG states. Of course that would mean any west coast tour would be limited to Wyoming and Hawaii.
discntnt_irny_srcsm
(18,479 posts)But does Senator Feinstein know she's in an SYG state?

(17,502 posts)Washington. According to one self defense lawyer, California allows counter attacks in some cases.

(594 posts)..... if these musical acts want to remain consistent. That would likely require them leaving more $$$ on the table than they're comfortable with. Not happening.
