http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/cleveland_metro/Cleveland-man-shoots-intruder-holding-fiance-at-gunpoint-Resident-applauded-by-councilman#ixzz2ZPwucxkAIt all started when Jacquella Lattimore left the house to take her children to camp. Police say she was accosted by three men who were trying to force her back into the house at gunpoint. What the intruders apparently didn't know is that Lattimore's fiancé, Johnny Bridges, was watching from the window with his gun.

I went to the gunshow (salem Va) yesterday, I noticed several more blacks in attendance than normal. To me it was refreshing seeing people take advantage of their rights. Roanoke has been having some problems with people abusing one another with firearms here lately, so it's really no surprise in the uptick in buying.
Oh and for those interested I ditched a unreliable Taurus 45 and picked up a new Ruger SR45. Great trigger and accurate to boot, eat 100 rounds without issue 3 types of HP's and some cheap assed wolf I had in a drawer.

(11,064 posts)"Bridges' bullet hit one of the suspects. All three gunmen ran. The injured suspect was taken into custody at Euclid Hospital. The other two were stopped a few blocks away after police noticed they looked suspicious.
"Fifth District Commander Wayne Drummond said they face charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and felonious assault.
"Bridges said one of the gunmen was in the garage with his children and two nieces.
Some people would respond irrationally and want to take away his right to own a firearm in his home for self-defense or the defense of his family. As some more rational people have said, "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away."

(6,057 posts)It's pretty evident from the video. Why did you think you had to point that out?
"Some people would respond irrationally and want to take away his right to own a firearm in his home " That's the old FOX News "some say" tactic. I for one, wouldn't say that he didn't have a right to own a firearm in his house. Who are you referring to with your use of "some people"?

(11,064 posts)some heavy-set guys (particularly muscular ones) who have experience of relying upon their size can make the mistake of doing so when the use of a firearm to defend a family member is more sensible.
He was out-numbered 3 to 1 by the gunmen.
Good for him.
For whatever reason that you seem to think it important for you to point out, "I for one, wouldn't say that he didn't have a right to own a firearm in his house," I don't care whether you do or do not say that.

(6,057 posts)I guess if there were even three blacks in attendance, that would more than normal.
And I'll guess we'll have to take your word for it. .... won't we?

(15,396 posts)sure it was still 30:1 but it was still a huge increase over 75:1
It was a great show, anything you wanted was there. If you wanted AR's there were 100's just waiting to be bought anywhere from 719 to 2xxx. I did see a SCAR-H for 27xx not a bad price for such a nice 308. I saw several AR10's for less than a grand. One booth even had a couple of Sub 2000 on the table.
Magazines out the ass, and at normal or close to normal prices. There's no excuse for folks to dish out 50 bucks for a pmag ever again from what I could see.
The bad part was the ammo gougers are still active, which made buying ammo all but useless. 13 bucks a box 22 from walturd was going for 45. 20 rounds of PMC instead of 10 was fetching 18. 100 rounds of federal normally 39 bucks were going for 85. F that...
I couldn't find a set of pink Magpul for the DW's AR but I did find a (somewhat) local LGS that will dip furniture in some really nice patterns that females would like. (I think that'll be a surprise gift for her to celebrate the kids going back to school next month. )
I meant to buy a charging handle (med) for my latest AR but forgot to swing back by the table. I went there to buy a M&P 9, 40 or 45 and ended up coming home with the ruger instead. I think the M&P 40 will be on my Anniversary wish list in December.
It was a pretty good show, plenty of stock, plenty of accessories and the crowd wasn't that bad.

I even picked up a couple of really nice Chinese pandas for 35 bucks each. My son bought a cool little airsoft rifle.

(15,396 posts)I'll be digging into my stock for a while, and will keep an eye open for 45 at walturd now.
It's been 3 years since I shot 45 so I hadn't bought any since then....I have plenty of 380,9, and 40 but only 500 or so rounds of 45.
There's just something soothing about shooting the gentle giant that the 9 and 40 can't touch.
I'm stuck on what to do next, invest in a M&P 40 and a 9mm conversion barrel, or just a 9mm conversion barrel and mags for my 229.
