From the story:

Jesse Ray Walker, 28, of Reidsville, was shot and killed at the business. Business owner Steve Hall shot him with a shotgun after Walker charged him, Page said.

That's property!

Evidently if you shoot a man dead for a property crime in Mayberry, you can get away with it by saying that "he charged me".

Sure! Instead of getting the hell out of there, the thief thought he'd charge a guy with a shotgun!

Does that even pass the stink test? Really?

You seem to be very concerned that justice was not done here.

I'm sure you'll want to send a check to the memorial fund for the deceased to show how serious you are about this and to support further investigation and possible prosecution of the shooter.

Or do you just pretend to be empathetic online?

I guess that's the law in Mayberry.

Even the shooters wife said the thieves made a run for it.

"Steve Hall left his home armed with a shotgun, she said. Joan Hall saw the two men run towards Flat Rock Road. She also heard one or two shots fired, she told the dispatcher." http://www.news-record.com/news/local_news/article_ac232cd6-eb03-11e2-bac9-0019bb30f31a.html

I guess the guy who got shot thought he would just turn and charge a guy with a shotgun.

Another keyboard commando for justice that talks a good game on activism and always seems to take the side of the criminal, who of course was just minding his own business when the big bad gun owner shot him.

Crooks are stupid and often unwittingly volunteer for the Darwin competition. This is a great example of that.

But the real world fact is, you don't do anything but whine online about any of this. .

Or the Duvall County ME that was fired from another county for unsanitary conditions, or Seminole County that leaves wet clothes in plastic bags for a month, destroying DNA, not bagging hands to preserve DNA. You might have a valid point for a change.
If you know any CSI types, I think Seminole County, FL, will be hiring after a deserved house cleaning.

Two guys running from a guy with a shotgun.

The only thought in that accomplice's mind was getting distance between himself and the guy with the scatter gun!

He wasn't looking back...... and even if he was, his testimony wouldn't be worth shit anyhow!

I suppose some would say that the criminal is entitled to be a thief without fear of repercussion, that the victim should just stand by and call police and hope for the best.

But many of us think that the criminal's "rights" to not feel the paid ends at the property line.

Add to that the likelihood that the criminal has the capacity to become violent and many of us feel that it's better to be safe than sorry.

I wasn't there this time but I'm not shedding any tears over this.

......... I'm talking about the owner's ability to carry out "legalized murder" and get away with it.

Under these bizarre "SYG laws" and "Castle Doctrine laws" we're going to be seeing many more such cases. And the victims are not always going to be "deserving" scumbags!
