1. Illinois seems to get a lot of it's "crime" guns from Indiana.

Firearms Trace Data 2012

With a pretty decent sprinkling from Wisconson, Mississippi, Missouri and Kentucky.

If "Carrying Concealed Weapon" drops off or down on that reported crime list, law enforcement will have more time for robbery and homicide investigations.

It never ceases to amaze me how many multi layered barriers some people need to avoid confronting a little rational discussion.

Lisa Madigan, Illinois AG and primary challenger to Governor Quinn next year, got another 30 days, till the end of July, to "consider" whether she will even file a SCOTUS appeal (with no guarantee they would grant cert), not an extension on the July 9th deadline for court/constitutional carry. If Quinn signs the bill, or if he vetoes it and his veto is overridden, which is pretty much assured with over 75% voting for the bill in both houses, her appeal will go away anyhow.

The appellate court in their granting of a 30 day extension on their original deadline of June 9th to "allow the governor time to read the bill" said "no further extensions will be granted".

In the meantime Quinn is pushing Home Rule towns to hurry up and pass a local assault weapons ban, while he sits on the CC bill. It's not working too well though.

The Illinois State Rifle Assn. is calling all the city councils considering a local AWB and sending copies of the pro forma lawsuits they will be filing to each city council member, with their name and town already filled in, that's considering an assault weapons ban. They have also included copies of the checks Chicago and Oak Park have written to them, to let them know the kind of legal fees they will be incurring if they do this.

So far about 5 of the 20 towns considering an AWB have dropped it completely or voted no on it. But there will be more fun to come, I'm sure. Maybe Bloomie will step in and offer to pick up all the tabs for the lawsuit?

Quite a political tactic. Love to see the cover letters.

The checks are just Pdf copies of the checks we all saw, signed by Rahm for $399,999 etc.

It's a good way to make sure they know how real this really is for them personally. If they feel that strongly, they need to know what the consequences will be for their actions and how quickly they will come. You can be pretty sure their actions will also come back to haunt them in their next campaign too, with details about the legal costs they incurred for the town and what it did to those local budgets.

These towns have had decades to pass an AWB, if they were really concerned. And Illinois had a total of 3 crimes, not 3% - 3 crimes, committed with rifles of any kind in the last FBI UCR. So it's not like assault weapon related crime is rampant here., even with the Chicago gangs.

So, why rush to pass a half baked ban on my Marlin Model 60 or a Ruger 10/22? The bill passed by the general assembly for CCW preempts any and all handgun laws, including any bans on semi-auto handguns. It's a stupid symbolic gesture that Quinn thinks will garner some votes in the primary next year.

But ... the state Democrat party is run by Mike Madigan, father of Lisa Madigan state AG and candidate for governor in the primary. Guess who the party will back in the primary? The other candidate for the Governor's seat is a guy named Daley. Quinn has served his purpose and will be history next year.

Then again, what would you know about it? You merely live in in Illinois and pay close attention
to politics there...

Long tedious posts?

Ability to ignore facts with multiple neutral sources to support them?

Self designated spokesperson for all women, and minorities regarding firearms, voting rights et. al.?

With the jury system she would not last long with her previous persona and would certainly have to craft a new, less abrasive one to survive.

Maybe pretending to be an American?
