When will these gun owner baser types stop pointING guns (and machetes) at thieves?

(24,331 posts)Whenever I read about the NY City Council railing about the evil and danger of toy guns, I can't help but think that if the cops spent less time pointing their guns at 11 year olds with toys, maybe we wouldn't have retired librarians having to defend themselves as much.

(3,894 posts)The minor might be 17 given the ages of the other two, likely he's an older teen, and it doesn't seem as though they were "innocent" since they were burgling, and lastly, holding at gunpoint till the police arrive (compared to shooting on sight) is EXACTLY what we are taught in Concealed Weapons courses, whenever possible, hold the suspect and let the police work it out.

(6,185 posts)We had a story last week ...

Where a number of gun control "enthusiasts" opined repetitively that the "kids" involved in the assault and attempted robbery might not have meant the 65 year old bike rider any real harm, in spite of punching him in the face and repeatedly kicking him while on the ground. They might have meant to just take his bike and "stuff" and the 65 year old was just another bloodthirsty gun owner with a concealed carry permit out looking for someone to shoot.
But Ileus can straighten this out if I'm wrong.

(3,894 posts)Some folks can pull it off without an emoticon, this OPer apparently didn't for me.

(6,185 posts)It hardly matters what is done to you or yours. If you use a firearm in any way to stop the attack, you are obviously in the wrong, morally, ethically and, if they could pull it off, legally.
It's actually kind of silly when viewed in the cold light of reality.
Be careful of whiplash when scanning that thread, you'll find yourself slapping your forehead repeatedly and saying "WTF!"

(2,631 posts)They'd better haul him in for a psychological evaluation. Obviously owning a gun has emboldened him him act like some kind of cowboy. Or words to that effect...

(754 posts)Discussions about penis and guns has given way to Yosemite Sam? What a let down. Must be grade inflation.

(2,966 posts)The one dude strapped on a machete and the other strapped on a "gun." (Media strangely silent about what kind of laser-guided, heat-seeking, banana-bullet-clip-magazine, pistol-grip-flash-hider-silencer the rude baser toter strapped on to his fire-from-the-hip death spewer. NRA coverup?)
But to answer your question, I got nothin. I don't know when people will stop pointing guns at alternative shoppers. I'm sure that pointing some harsh language at them would have done the same thing.
