Woman fires shots at men attempting to break into home

http://www.kctv5.com/story/22407866/shots-fired-during-home-invasion-1-person-possibly-shot

Police say Shirley Roberts acted appropriately.

"If you are in fear for your life, most definitely we want you to protect yourself so obviously she thought she was in fear for her life so she responded," Kansas City police Sgt. Marisa Barnes said. "I would consider her very lucky."

Oscar Roberts said he and his wife go to the shooting range and practice for this very type of situation. He said his wife wanted a gun that was small enough for her to handle in this very type of situation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While I don't care for her decision to use a 38 revolver for HD/SD she used her life saving device as designed and manufactured.
A g19 may be a better HD firearm she was 3 rounds from running dry.
1. This can't be true.
I have it on good authority from a few members here that DGU's are rare and that usually the gun is taken away from the owner and used on them.
All kidding aside, good DGU, another POS thug is sent packing with maybe a wound.
2. If some here had their way, she'd have been unarmed. That could have led to raped and murdered.
So that they could somehow feel safer.
EDITED subject line for clarity.
And who here supports rape? I have seen a few that support murder, but they have all been nutjobs like Atypical Liberal. Remember him?
4. Many would ban handguns outright, others would ban all firearms. To be more clear:
I didn't mean to suggest that any support rape or murder. If you break my sentence into two parts, you see what I meant to say:
If some here had their way, she'd have been unarmed and raped and murdered.
means:
If some here had their way, she'd have been unarmed.
As a consequence, she's have likely been raped and murdered.
I should edit.
5. Yeah, but you must admit it was inflammatory.
I'm not a fan of handguns, but I don't want to ban them. They have their usefulness and can be fun to shoot. I don't think they are the ideal tool for home defense, but each to his own.
I don't think we have many, if any, members who oppose home defense.
6. I can think of two contenders
Michael Moore, who said "get a dog" in a very patronizing manner to on Bill Maher. and the CO 1 rep who condescendingly, both in tone of voice and body language, told a constituent "call 911 and the police will be there in minutes." Good thing I don't live in that district. If the Democrat is like that, I can only imagine what the Republicans must be like.
Of course, Moore was referring to everyone else but him given that he told Larry King that he owns a gun and has armed body guards. As for my opinion of Moore, Paul Berman was spot on.
I don't recall seeing them post in the Gungeon.
OTOH, a dog can be an extremely effective tool for both home defense and personal protection. In fact, it is probably the most popular for both purposes. I wouldn't recommend a gun to anyone who has qualms about shooting another human.
I'm about to get a beretta nano for lil over $400. Is that a good price/ and is it worth it? I've never shot a nano before, I just like the way it looks and it would fit me better.
for that amount of money, you could buy a burglar alarm and some mace, and NOT something more likely to kill the user than a burglar.
Food for thought.
God forbid nobody gets shot though...
bad idea. Mace works great on dogs, it is a mixed bag on humans.
I have both a burglar alarm AND mace. This won't be my first gun and won't be the last I buy. And what I spend my money on shouldn't be any of your concern.
with a good quality SD firearm of your choice.
I carry a Kimber Pepper blaster from time to time when I'm in a location that won't allow my EDC. If one wanted I suppose you could carry both and hope to evaluate incidents on a case by case basis.
I'll normally toss my KBP at events like yesterday when we went to a freestyle MX show at a nearby motorcycle show and my sons baseball game. I guess you just have to weigh the weigh savings with the risks of going around unarmed.
From what I've read they're reliable and that's the #1 thing in a compact or sub-compact pistol.
It's got to go bang every time or you can't trust it to save a life.
16. I have friends that have bought and sold on GB
Sun Jun 2, 2013, 09:19 AM
They've had no issues with sellers or buyers so far. One guy has bought and sold 100's (dealer) of things without incident. The other two have each just bought firearms and done the transfer through a local dealer. Those items arrived and were 100% functional. I've made an account but haven't ever used it.
I suppose like any "auction" site you can find lemon sellers.
17. Cool, thanks. I'll be using GB to get my nano. its at least $150 less than what local shops want
And the fee to pick it up at an authorized dealer is only $25.
