Police said Tuesday that they have filed a criminal complaint seeking that Kyle Laidman, 28, be charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, texting while driving and possession of large capacity ammunition magazines without a license.
The criminal complaint will go before a magistrate in the Cambridge District court for a probable cause hearing sometime in the next month, police said Tuesday.

(1,315 posts)6 EMPTY Pmags, to a "machine gun"...
Lucky they didn't explode on impact.
"six thirty-round machine gun ammunition magazines" so if he in fact does not own a machine gun what harm are 6 plastic boxes, what makes them so inherently dangerous they are a felony item. As for "high" capacity, standard M16 and AR magazines are 30 rounders so that is a bit..disingenous itself.
On this case, the law is the law, it is an absurd and excessive limit, but it is the law, so no sympathy from me, thats why I live where I do.

(49,445 posts)The key crime in this story is a drunk guy texting while driving and getting himself wrapped around a telephone pole. Since no gun-related crime was committed, and the gun magazines were not contributing to the wreck, this does not meet the SoP of the Group.

Besides the fact that regulations on large capacity magazines are a current topic of gun politics.
This is a bad lock!

(18,673 posts)A man was driving around with 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) empty MACHINE GUN magazines and a pistol magazine marked LAW ENFORCEMENT AND GOVERNMENT USE ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good thing they stopped this pre-mass murderer before he could kill hundreds!!!!
Oh, BTW he was operating a 1-2 ton vehicle while intoxicated and struck a phone pole with enough force to break it in two...
But he had empty LARGE CAPACITY MAGAZINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hmm, priority issue maybe
The rifle mags may be for a Steyr AUG, but several other makes are similar. Pistol mags made during the '94 AWB era were labeled Law Enforcement and Military use only. I have three; when the ban expired they became legal for the public to buy/own. No difference than non-labeled pre/post ban mags.
