(10,952 posts)awake both my dogs want to head straight for the door to outside and do their chores. If it is a work day then I have to go outside with them to obtain the "production count" to gauge if they will be set for the day. They get a second potty break just before I leave for work.
If I am not going to work then they want to crawl back in bed with me if I go back to bed. Toby wants to crawl under the covers and Daisy sleeps between my legs. I don't mind it in the winter as they make great bed warmers.

(11,065 posts)and which one of us wakes up first. If he wakes up first and wants to go outside he comes into the bed and climbs on me and paws at me to wake me up.
If I wake up first (which is the more usual thing) if he's sleeping on the floor at the foot of the bed he looks up at me, sloooooowly gets up and does the whole stretching routine at both ends and sometimes does the humped up back stretch like a cat, he does a GREAT BIG loud noisy yawn (he always makes yawn noise when he yawns), comes into the bathroom with me while I pee and either gets a drink from the bathtub or puts his head in my lap while I'm on the potty. Then he follows me downstairs and we go straight to the back door so he can go out to do his business. Sometimes he goes right away and sometimes he naps for a bit before deciding to bother with peeing himself. Usually, he wants to stay outside for awhile either napping or playing 'cause he's just an outdoor kinda guy.
If he's sleeping in the bathroom when I wake up jammed into the little space between the potty and the sink, he does generally the same thing while I'm climbing over him to use the potty since he's soooooooo slooooooow about moving his big arse outta the way.
Very occasionally he'll be sleeping downstairs when I wake up (normally he wants to sleep on whatever floor of the house I'm on), and he wakes up when he hears me come downstairs... or maybe he wakes up when he hears me use the bathroom but if he does he doesn't bother moving until I start down the stairs. Then he looks up at me with that questioning look that says "oh, we're up now?" and follows me to the back door and does the whole stretching and yawning routine when he gets outside.

(13,468 posts)Layla goes downstairs with me and curls up on the couch until I've had enough coffee to go on our three mile walk. After that she curls up on the couch until I feed her (or brush her teeth, then she gives me a dirty look) and back on the couch while I have my breakfast. Then when I go up to shower she hops in bed with hubby until he gets up.
Sometimes she barks to go out and relieve herself before first settling on the couch. We do a bit of cuddling while I drink my coffee too
