Related: About this forumLayla chasing her BALL!
Nothing big, just my Layla and I playing Chuck-it out at the local horse track grounds, where they kindly let people exercise their dogs on the weekend (best to go when the horses aren't running though).

(13,466 posts)We can't even spell the word "ball" around her she loves it so much. She's intense when she plays, laid back in the house.

(1,249 posts)Did you have to teach her to fetch, or did she just take to it naturally? I have two beagle- type hounds, neither of whom will chase a ball, stick or frisbee

(13,466 posts)She would go after the ball from the time she was a tiny pup, but she would run away with it. It took a lot of work to get her to bring it back and drop it.

(13,466 posts)The Chuck-it ball thrower is the best $11 I ever spent.
Walk away
(9,494 posts)He surrounds himself with them underneath the mulberry bush and at night he sleeps with one in his mouth like a suckling pig with an apple.
I have been watching Ebay for a tennis ball machine. They are really expensive but it might be fun to try to swing a used one. Imagine filling it up with 50 tennies and setting it with 60 second intervals. Robbie would plotz!

(3,702 posts)She is such a beautiful and happy pup! My dearly departed lab mix was a ball chaser (we have two dogs that only chase each other now) and whenever I opened a fresh can of tennis balls he would just sit and shake with anticipation.
He died just over two yrs ago and I miss him so much, this video reminds me of that awesome joy dogs have! Thanks for sharing.

(13,466 posts)Teaching her a start-line stay has been the hardest part of agility so far. She just wants to GO!!! Then make up her own course and leave the slow-poke human behind. But she has a lot of fun in her activities.

(6,948 posts)held agility fun matches a couple times a year. It was a lot of fun (and work) organizing them, setting up, etc. but so worth it watching the dogs and their handlers run the course. I worked with my bouvier at home a bit on some of the obstacles, since I housed the clubs equipment, but he drew the line on the dog walk. He'd get up the ramp, look at the crossover board and look at me like, "And you want me to put my feet where?" He was a big boy! He was ok with the jumps, a-frame, etc. but just didn't want any part of the dog walk. Actually he preferred herding...less work...get those sheep where they belong, then just keep an eye on them and take a sniff around break. He was a great dog, very versatile in his talents and produced some beautiful, sweet-tempered pups. I still have one of his daughters, though she takes after her mother in temperament and energy level. She'd probably do well in agility come to think about it...loves to be on the move.

(13,466 posts)It took forever for Layla to decide she could trust the teeter-toter. She hates anything moving under her feet.
Bouvier's are very beautiful dogs.
