In remembrance of
Belle (1986 - 2019)
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives more temporary than our own live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan. The life of a horse, often half our own, seems endless until one day. That day has come and gone for me, and I am once again within a somewhat smaller circle."
- Irving Townsend "The Once Again Prince"
May Belle now dance to a heavenly band
"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse."
- Revelations somewhere
Many hugs, my friend. I can only imagine your heartache.

I just broke down. It didn't help that my husband and I had just been discussing our past dogs and have a morning crying over them.
If one has ever deeply loved an animal, they understand. Sometimes grief strikes out of the blue.
Bayard told me that Belle had been sick lately and was under a vet's care and on antibiotics. I joined her in hoping that Belle would make it. When you've shared half your life with an animal, as Bayard has, there's has to be a deep bond.
I hope Bayard will see this. And I hope she'll post a picture of herself on Belle.
She's had some bad luck with the menagerie on her Farm lately. But the day before brought some much-welcomed good news: an adorable baby goatie was born.
On Horses:
They hold a special place in the hearts who love them. Last summer I took my still sharp-as-a-tack 83yo uncle to see my 93yo mother in her nursing home. On the hour drive there, he talked about sentimental things, including his horse who died 40+yrs ago. He choked up - he adored that horse so and still grieves. As we do with some people, we never get over losing some of our animal family.
Sending my deepest sympathy and love to you, Bayard, my friend.

She lost her horse yesterday.
I'm sure you send her your condolences. 🙏
Sorry, this was my fault for not being more clear. I've made some edits to clarify. My apologies.
