Man's About To Return Shelter Dog When He Finds A Letter From The Previous Owner - false

Last edited Sun Sep 23, 2018, 12:18 PM - Edit history (1)

Sorry about all the heart break, as posted below, Snopes found it false.

I actually found it last night but was too tired to post. I tried to google the "soldier" - Paul Mallory - and found this link

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/false-reggie-the-adopted-lab/

It ends:

However, that the story may not be literal truth doesn’t prevent it from being figurative truth. Those who serve overseas do so at the cost of great personal sacrifice. A tale such as this — literal truth or not — serves to remind us all of how much they give and how much we owe them.

Long, but worth it.

Two of the dogs I've adopted over the years ended up in real trouble and desperately needed new homes because their owners had died. At least this brave soldier did the right thing for Tank. And my two dogs ended up immediately bonding with each other - one was the biggest dog I've had and the other was the smallest, but they had a lot in common.

Both adopted at one year old two years apart. My older Border Collies happiest day was when we brought the Aussie/Sheltie mix home.

When I lost my beloved cocker at age 18, I thought my other dog was lonely, so I called about another 8-year-old cocker that my friend in rescue told me about. I was told that this dog "had been placed," but this lovely woman in rescue knew about another dog that "was in real trouble." His owner had died and his present home was not working out. Turns out this tiny dog (8 pound Brussels Griffon) had belonged to an elderly lady who died and he was not too fond of men. So we went to meet the pup, took my other dog with me - and the little guy curled up on my lap on the way home and was cuddling with his new "sister" on her bed that very first night. He had been separated from his biological sister, so he loved the company - and my cocker loved having a BFF...
