Golden retrievers and father hood

Other day I found a kitten I think somebody dropped her off , we live in rural area we have had dogs cats abdonded before. She is sweet calico other morning I came home from third shift and she was sitting by garage. She came to me and friendly and loving I took her inside and the boog chocolate lab the golden retriever and the Newfie all greeted her. Sniffing her well our golden has adopted her he is nine it is cute. She loves him they sleep together he licks her other day I took her to the vets. And when we came home he was fretting you can't take the baby man I love her. I told my wife it is his and hers anchor baby he is a loving proud father. Daughter and father are in backyard now enjoying the sun rise.

Lucky kitty. Too bad humans do not learn from animals, how to be accepting of others. I watch the birds in my backyard, feeding all together. I wish people accepted others as easily.

of which we have LOTS... She tiptoes and pauses when going out the front door so as to avoid scaring any that might be munching down nearby and spends hours each day wagging her tail as she watches the baby bun that finds its way under my mostly barricaded garden patio fence--which I long ago gave over to any bunnies smart enough to make their way there.

I don't let her nuzzle them, for both their sakes (coyotes DO go through the neighborhood now and then) and because we occasionally have a tragic cycle of Tularemia (rabbit fever) run through the rabbit population and dogs are susceptible. But, boy does she love those baby bunnies (and I adore her reaction).

I live in a rural area, too, and people use us as a dumping ground for their animals. Sounds like you've got a soft spot for BIG dogs. Can you post some pictures?

Seriously, good on you!

Another DUer, a heart-of-gold friend of mine has ~20+ cats, all dumped. She has a farm with a horse barn where these furkids live. Her menagerie includes 3 rescue dogs, her Siamese housekitty, 3 horses, 3 donkeys, many goats and chickens. I know I've left something off the list.

I want a farm.
