Loyal pitbull who guarded owner after fire put up for adoption
A pitbull who refused to leave her owner's side after the US woman was injured in a house fire has to find a new home because of laws banning the breed.
Precious the dog became a viral sensation after being filmed standing guard as her owner April Newell lay injured and unconscious in front of her burning home in Landover Hills, Maryland.
Firefighters were forced to use an extinguisher in order to get to Ms Newell safely, as Precious refused to budge.
But Ms Newell was forced to say goodbye to Precious because of Prince George's County ban on the breed.

Pit bull that stood guard over owner now with foster owner
Surae Chinn, WUSA 7:03 p.m. EST December 17, 2015
SEVERNA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Two weeks after she stood guard over her owner after a fire at their Prince George's County home, Precious the pit bull has found a new (and loving!) foster owner.
Precious couldn't return to her original owner because pit bulls are illegal in the county. She briefly stayed with relatives from Montgomery County, but that family had to give her up too because they don't have the means to care for her.
That's when Jessica Stuby stepped in. She owns 4 pit rescues herself in Anne Arundel County and is now fostering Precious.
"I was pretty shocked. A friend called me saying I'm getting that dog from the news, can you help?" Stuby said. "I can't say anything bad about her. She is exactly what people think from TV. Loyal, sweet and kind and she's house trained."

(15,220 posts)I've seen many a pitbull that was a fluff muffin, and I've seen many a chihuahua that would bit anything in it's path. Yes, pitties have the "potential" to cause more harm than a Chihuahua because of their size and strength, but dogs are as individual as any other species and breed specific legislation (or rules) makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever.
