North Carolina family reunited with dog missing for 6 years

HOPE MILLS, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina family has been reunited with a pet that had been missing for six years.

WTVD in Durham reports (http://abc11.tv/1d7MDbe) that a good Samaritan had found a white boxer named Bam by the side of a road and turned it over to Fayetteville Animal Control. Animal control tracked down the Westons through information placed on a microchip attached to the dog.

The microchip actually listed the Westons' previous address in Washington state. But animal control authorities were able to track the Westons to Hope Mills, outside of Fayetteville.

Eighteen-year-old K.C. Weston says the family was heartbroken when Bam didn't come home six years ago. He says he was shocked when his father brought the dog home earlier this week.
