Sad hereAn Irish setter known as Jagger has died after competing in the Crufts dog show in Birmingham, England. There are reports the dog may have been poisoned.

OK, not the same in terms of the significance but a good example of the incredible competition of one to another. I hope this dog went to his death in a normal progression of events. If this was a poisoning, I hope the one who did it rests in hell.
I'm sure the great proportion of us love our pets and cannot fathom anything like this.

(14,881 posts)He was suspicious, so did an autopsy. The chunks had been stitched together to hold the poison. They just waiting for the official toxicology reports now.

I read another article this afternoon, can't find it now, that apparently half a dozen other dogs fell ill after the show, so they're investigating that as well.
Also some speculation that the poison may have been intended for Jagger's half-brother, who won the division that Jagger was 2nd in. They had swapped benches because his half-bro was distracted by a dog that was in heat.
