Beneful dog food maker sued for illness, death of thousands of dogs

The maker of Beneful pet food is facing a class action lawsuit alleging that the popular dog food has led to serious illness or death in more than 3,000 pets.
the suit claims that a mold byproduct used in the eight kinds of Beneful dog food has been found to have caused internal bleeding, liver failure, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, seizures, bloat and kidney failure.

Nestle Purina PetCare, the company that produces the food, said on its website that the by-product - propylene glycol -- used in the food is an "FDA-approved food additive that's also in human foods like salad dressing and cake mix."

Propylene glycol, an antifreeze component, and mycotoxins, toxins produced by fungus found in grains, are what is sickening the dogs, the lawsuit says.

going on 3 weeks ago and I can see positive changes.
Commercial pet food is shit. And/or poisonous, as we see here. And not the first time.

somebody or something did poison those dogs, but i think it was not the food. if the food was that bad we would be knee deep in dead dogs.
most likely they got into something.

My neighbor's beloved labradoodle died at 7 years old - that dog should have lived longer, but she loved those waggin tail things. I should have told them, but I did not see the treats they gave her and I was loathe to just converse with them besides the favors we did for each other since they are tea party. But we share a love of our dogs.

Anyway, when I talked to them about it, they said their vet did not know why the dog died, sometimes it just happens. I asked them to report it, but they said what was done was done, but they would hate wagging tails and not feed it to their new dog.

So those dead dogs are out there, they are just not reported.

I used a flea collar from a nationally known manufacturer, it damned near killed my cat, in 2002.
When I took the cat to the vet, he said he had seen a lot of reactions like my cat had, because there was an ingredient in the collar that was toxic to cats, called Pyrethrin.
So I looked the issue up on the internet, and found hundreds of problems reported by cat owners, none reported by the company.

I wrote to the company, sent the vet bill in, and they paid it, after having me sign a letter stating I would not publicly disclose the problem or the name of the company.
Found many cat owners online who had the same experience, got their vet bills paid, after signing the letter.
They wrote of the problem online, but did not state the company name. Their comments were, of course, on a page where others had complained about the specific company, so everyone quickly understood who it was.
