divorce settlement is finally in the works, and demands that i give up doctor doom have been dropped. yeah!!!
also, little dog w cancer sees the vet today, it seems to be advancing now. more bumps and skin tags popping up. there is a treatment out there that is not crazy expensive, but will see. gonna do an xray to see how things are going on the inside.
big sad, tho, is that her sister is starting to show similar signs. that really blows.

(70,155 posts)tho she does have a bump that is likely a recurrence, the lipoma that i was worried about is still just a lipoma.
no sign of infiltration into her lungs or anything.
talked about the meds, and think that a little down the line we will do another bump hunt, and try them. $180/mo, for 3-6 months. affordable.
relieved.

(18,219 posts)I have not heard of any treatment that cheap. Years ago, when I had two different cats with cancer, there really wasn't anything affordable that could be done.
Maybe her sister would be easier to treat with this medicine if caught early.
Bummer about the divorce though.

(70,155 posts)it is a bummer. but it is all good in the end. getting over it.
yeah, i meant to ask what the name of it was. they are mast cell tumors. i was told that just giving an antihistamine would help, and it does seems to somewhat. it is not a real chemo drug. so, assuming it is more like a high powered antihistamine.
is powerful enough to need blood work to monitor. if it does work, i will be seriously considering a round for her sister.
vet said it has mostly been used in advanced cases, like all cancer drugs start out. so, whether or not it would be preventive, or whether it works better given earlier, they dont yet know.
thx.

(14,807 posts)I am asking because pathology reports just came back on my 11 yr. old cat who died last month and today we had to let her mother go due to C also.
The foods were wide and far and varied. Just eating a can or pouch worth might not necessarily have damaged them at that time. The Drs. that did the necropsy are talking about a possible link to past Menu Foods issue now resurfacing in C cases.
What type of C is it do they know? Where is it located?

(70,155 posts)skin tags that are going cancer. a fairly common sort of cancer, i think.
dont know what foods are on the list, but in her lifetime she has eaten a lot of different foods.
other dogs are fine. her sister has a few skin tags, too, but nothing suspicious.
thanks, tho.
