be happy with me!

short history 1st... Princess peanut,13, was diagnosed with mast cell cancer in mid Sept, stage 2, 80% survival at 2 years out. Treatment for her is prednisone with generic Prilosec. After a bit of tweaking( she has a delicate stomach) she has been on 5 mgs twice a day, Prilosec with the evening meal. Friday pm, she vomited blood, Saturday am she was at the vets. The vet checked her out, and gave her an anti nausea injection, with the expected instructions, 1 to 2 tablespoons of chicken broth or water every hr, no solid food and come back Monday if no improvement. She slept most of Saturday and today, 'cept when I woke her for fluids. Half an hour ago she got up, stretched, found her favorite toy and started chewing. had a drink and is still chewing her woobie . Tonight she feels better, and I am happy.

But it is worrying that she was vomiting blood. Oh my! Sounds ominous, except that I had the same problem, and the Prilosec has stopped all the sensitive stomach and bleeding for 2 years now. Hope she has as good luck as I have, although there is no cancer in my diagnosis. Poor baby. I wonder if the prednisone caused it. I have been told that it can be harsh on the stomach.
