Related: About this forumshit. little dog had 4 lumps removed. biopsy says 4 mast cell tumors.
this was after a bump-ectomy for a growth on her eyelid, and a general bump hunt. took off a bunch of what looked like warts and some skin tags.
before the hair had grown back, she had 4 new bumps. one started bleeding.
after those were removed, in less than a week, a small skin tag quadrupled in size.
they were rated 2 on a scale of 3, but it may just be that we caught them quickly. they were all still encapsulated.
the vet consulted an oncologist, but i havent gotten that info yet.
nothing showing on a chest xray. no real sign of infiltration, or discomfort.
doc said there is a vaccine available, but no idea how much that will cost. (she could have done this 6 months ago, when i was still married to that rich guy.)
maybe the saddest part is that i also have her belly sister. they are 11 yo rat terriers. not that old for a little dog. her sister is gonna go through this with her, and i wont be able to explain a damn thing to her.
shit

(18,219 posts)I had a cat who had the same thing, and we just kept removing lumps for about six months. I think now that I probably was too selfish and shouldn't have put her through it. But she never showed signs of pain, just weakened over time.
I with the best for you and your baby. Give her lots of love and hugs, and maybe more can be done than was available years ago.

(1,136 posts)Squamous cell carcinomas. The first 5 years, all encapsulated, all removed with clean margins. She would get one or two at a time one a year or so. Very manageable. At 15, she got one, had it removed, and then it felt like overnight, but was really over a week she was covered in them. She never did really seem in pain, vet said we couldn't remove them all. She lived 6 more months.
Hang in there, I'm hopeful her case is manageable and you have several good years left like I did. Hugs to you and the pups.

(70,214 posts)is not good. and having that other one blow up within days.
i am not going to put her through too many more bump hunts. 3 of the 4 were in her groin area, and they could barely pull enough skin together to sew her back up. one was in a mammary, too. also ungood.
thx for the hugs.
good to be able to come here and have folks who get it.

(33,023 posts)Things I learned. take a copy of the body map home cause I have freaked myself out finding "new" lumps.
she is such a little dog, it doesnt seem like i would need to do that. but i am glad you said it, because i am sure as they multiply i will be doing the same.
trying to love her now.
Peanut is getting prednisone & generic prilosec every night with dinner. What is your vet planning on?

(70,214 posts)mast cell tumors make histamines, so we are treating that.
waiting to see what the oncologist says. just happens that the vet's cat also had bumps removed the same day that were also mast cell tumors. so, she is tapping the vet's privilege for advice.

(70,214 posts)she told her dad. his lawyer sent me an email today saying that she is old, and the stbx refuses to pay for her treatment.
