We had a busy week today. The mom and the pups all had kennel cough, and while the Mom seems to be throwing it off, we lost one of the pups to pneumonia. The other 2 seem OK. I've been a wreck.

How heartbreaking that is! I'm glad that the mommy and the other pups are ok now. They've gotten so big already! What a huge difference in just two weeks. They grow up so darn fast. *sigh*

And they're just so completely adorable!

for the loss of a pup that I never met. It must have been very difficult for you to have so many sick doggies...and to lose one! So sorry.

But the two in the photos are looking good. Cute as buttons.

But, tell me, how in the world did they get Kennel Cough? Had the Mother been in a kennel?

8. The Mom and pups were taken to a shelter

Mom had wandered into somebody's yard and had the pups. The people took them to the shelter. The rescue got them out as quickly as possible. Shelters are full of kennel cough. Mom got x-rayed today, and her chest has a bunch of buckshot in her. Maybe she went hunting with Dick Cheney? But the pups seem much better now, their lungs still sound a bit rough according to the vet, but better than they were. Mom is also heartworm positive, so she will have to go through heartworm treatment also. Poor girl, she is only 2 and has apparently had a rough life to this point. She is a great dog! very loving and has been great about people seeing her pups. We have had to limit people coming in the last few weeks because they have been sick. But things are starting to look up. They are starting to eat puppy mush which is just puppy kibble and water mashed up in a blender with just a bit of canned puppy food mixed in.
