(21,718 posts)So sweet and loving, to the pups and to me. She has been great with all the kids and people who want to see her babies. They are starting to take their first steps now, only 1 or 2 at a time. It will take a while before they build strength in their back ends. They don't have teeth yet, that will come in the next week or so. The teeth is what makes Mom want them to eat other things. Those puppy teeth hurt!

(11,065 posts)I'd find it nearly impossible to NOT always be watching them even though at that age they really don't do much of anything other than eat and sleep... but they're just the most adorable little boo-boo's even doing nothing is just the most adorable thing!
Mommy seems like such a good and serene mommy doggie, too. I'm so happy that you're helping this little furry family get a good start. I have huge respect for folks that foster especially since I just know I'd never be able to part with a fur baby once it was in my house. I just get too attached right from the start.

(21,718 posts)But they will be here for at least 5 more weeks. When you have them for that long, you are ready when it is time for them to go to their forever homes. They are trouble when they are 8 weeks old. And I want to do this with another litter, so it will be time for them to move on. And though they don't do much now, I get excited when they move to the next development mark, like they are starting to stand on all 4's now, so it won't be long before they are walking. Now the 6 inch barrier at the bottom of the gate to the x-pen keeps them contained. But it won't for much longer.
I have fostered for 10 years, but have just started taking pups this young.

Thank you for caring for them. My precious Layla and her siblings were fostered before they were put up for adoption at our humane society. I am grateful every day for the care she got. She is so loving and wonderful. These precious ones will be too.
