Related: About this forumUpdate on ThunderShirt.
We had a pretty good thunderstorm yesterday afternoon, and I put the shirt on my little Rudy. It seemed to calm him a bit, but he still went and hid under the dining room table.
Today, I saw on the radar that more thunder and rain was coming. I debated whether to wrestle Rudy into the shirt. Then I had a flash of memory. Buried in my CDs was "DogGone Songs" -- a CD that I got over two years ago and had completely forgotten about.
It says that it's "music to soothe the animal spirit", and I tell you, it's quite beautiful music. Very classically inspired and calming.
I put the CD on the stereo and BOTH my dogs lay down and went to sleep -- thunder or no thunder!!
The composer is Thomas Schoenberger.

But it does sound like the thundershirt did work if Rudy was calmer. Hiding during a storm is probably a smart thing to do, so if an animal hides but does not freak out, I would not be concerned. Think about it---when a bad storm comes along, aren't we supposed to seek shelter? Smart dog.
