Main thing to understand are the needs of different plants (especially needs for water and sun) and sufficient spacing.

It's crazy what some of the rules are. I am glad I asked.

info from long ago. My thoughts are gardening"rules" are meant to be tested and often broken.

i plant marigolds with my tomatos, eggplants, and peppers. basil goes with many things.

be careful that tall plants don't shade out short ones. spreading plants, mint or catnip, might strangle thinner plantings, but i say, go ahead.

I love mixing herbs in with my flowers. Their various leaf shapes, textures, and colors both complement and contrast with annual flowers beautifully. Plus: herbs! Hell, yeah! Few things are as satisfying as popping out of the kitchen for a sec to snip some fresh herbs for your meal.

I'm just so excited spring is nearly here!
