Related: About this forumCan I plant herbs next to petunias?
I have large front porch planters and I wanted to know if I could bulk them up by planting herbs and flowers in the same pot. Does anyone have any experience with this?

be careful that tall plants don't shade out short ones. spreading plants, mint or catnip, might strangle thinner plantings, but i say, go ahead.

(4,608 posts)I love mixing herbs in with my flowers. Their various leaf shapes, textures, and colors both complement and contrast with annual flowers beautifully. Plus: herbs! Hell, yeah! Few things are as satisfying as popping out of the kitchen for a sec to snip some fresh herbs for your meal.
I'm just so excited spring is nearly here!
