A walk on the beautiful wild side...

This is a view of our wild area behind the garden and some pictures of the flowers that accompany us during the day.

Coming up from the back at the crossroads of Deer Trail and Asparagus Path. Mary is picking cucumbers, Roscoe is looking for bunnies.

This is where I grow our Meadowsweet, it’s wild but I’ve been nursing it trying to bring out the best of it. Natural pain relief, got me through my hip replacement and before without narcotics.

Salicin, a pain-reducing compound that was first taken from the meadowsweet plant in the late 1800s and altered to become acetylsalicylic acid, which was later renamed aspirin

Bee Balm we dry the flowers and leaves for tea (flowers) and cooking (leaves). It tastes and smells a lot like thyme.

Benefits: https://www.acornherbschool.com/bee-balm-monarda#:~:text=Bee%20balm%20~%20A%20Native%20American%20remedy&text=M.,Americans%20both%20historically%20and%20today.

Black-eyed Susan just popped up from a wildflower garden we had years ago.

Rose of Sharon shows up walking up to the north medicinals bed.

Yarrow flowers from this crop aren’t quite open but they will be.

Hope you enjoyed the walk on the wild side.

Greg.

Monarda is a favorite of mine. It keeps the hummingbirds around for longer than they otherwise might up here in the north country. I’ll bet that view brings your blood pressure way down.

Do you make something from the Rose of Sharon? I planted a few little shrubs several years ago, and now they're as tall as the house.

I've been trying to get the time to upload my garden pics.
