when growing carrots

the packages say to sow the seeds 1/4 inch deep and thin as the greens reach 2 inch in heights. How do you keep the plants from falling over with only that much soil cover or should one continually add more soil on top?

They grow as fast underground as they do above ground, so they have no trouble staying upright.

3. They are smart seeds. Definitely thin, a lot.

I couldn’t bring myself to thin any of my seeds that sprouted. The end result was nothing did very well as not enough nutrients or water for each plant.

5. I usually stick the tip of my finger in and put a couple seeds.

Make sure the holes are two inches apart for direct sow.

Pinch the hole closed, water on mist, as to not disturb the soil to much.

Yes, there are a lot of seeds and you will get a lot of carrots. Make sure the soil is loose. As the plant grows so does the root. They are a lot smaller than store bought carrots, but they are very tasty!

Ps. They do take some time to grow, I plant mine in April and don't harvest until end of August. I'm in Northern IL.
