(17,634 posts)...she also made grape nut pie and ritz cracker pie! Loved my grammy!! My poor grand kids dont even get cookies..no one wants carbs or sugar.

(34,661 posts)jealous,the rhubarb we get here in the Desert makes lousy pie or even sauce. Pillsbury used to have one of the best ,nice balance of sweet and still tart.

(3,282 posts)We used to grow rhubarb in our back yard when I was growing up. My advice is any recipe you find online for strawberry rhubarb pie or anything is to cut the sugar by at least a third or maybe half. It's just a personal preference, because I love tart and sour things, and I love the flavour of rhubarb, and too much sugar just weights down the bright flavours of the rhubarb and strawberries.

I haven't had a rhubarb pie in years...but it sure does sound good right about now!

(2,957 posts)was to paint the cooked pie shell with chocolate before adding the strawberry filling to keep the crust from getting soggy. Because of this method, I chose to use less sugar in the strawberry recipe. I melted dark chocolate chips & let it harden before adding the filling. I turned out pretty well. 🍓🥧
