Trying the whole powered milk for first time. Not too bad, much better than the old fat free stuff. Have to remember to put it in the cup and them pour coffee over it as it is hard to get the lumps out. Trying to get away from expensive creamers and fresh cream. I'm cheap.

(35,675 posts)However, I'm watching these people on an Amazon garden show have a salad with fresh tomatoes, so I'm thinking, hmmmm. Salad.
Ginger tea, of course. I'm thinking about expanding into turmeric-ginger tea. Ginger is an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory and I've been feeling so great, maybe from drinking this all the time, that I might add in a super-ingredient. Cultures that use it in cooking have lower cancer rates.
Oh, and Ohiogal, me, too. Mine's an artisan baguette, though, from TJs.

Buy organic ginger and leave the peel on. Wash really well, of course, and then rough chop. Put Saran wrap over it and pound it with your kitchen mallet on your cutting board. The Saran wrap keeps it from flying all over the place. Then put it in a saucepan with filtered water (can be regular water) and bring to a boil. Let it sit for a while, like at least 5". Decant. Save the ginger in the frig for at least 2-3 more pots of tea.
When you want a cup of tea, just pour some from your bottle in the frig. Add some filtered water to your cup because in the first few pots, it will be very strong. Heat it up or drink cold. I like to add agave and make it somewhat sweet.
I use about a 3" x 5" tuber for each pot of tea.
I also take a glucosamine chondroitin* each morning and evening. I have no joint pain, and I really should have some because my doctor told me I have very arthritic knees. In addition, I tromp around all over the property with my gardening activities, plus the schools where I teach gardening. Lots of stress on the knees.
Contrast to the RG. We both see the same orthopedic. The RG's knee is swollen--visibly, and he is using a CBD roll-on which helps with the pain, but why not enjoy your tea and solve the inflammation problem at the same time?

(31,999 posts)I am feeling decadent since Im supposed to be limiting carbs, but I cannot resist homemade bread. Will have to be hyper vigilant the rest of the day.
My husband found this beet-ginger-turmeric juice in the store in the juice aisle that sounds a lot like the same ingredients in your tea. If only I didnt loathe beets.
Turmeric is an excellent antioxidant. I should get myself some of that tea youre having!

I have to limit both carbs and cholesterol, and Im at my wits end trying to come up with something for breakfast that isnt an egg and isnt a carb. Im getting tired of cottage cheese and yogurt.

(2,042 posts)I melted a little butter in a small skillet and then sprinkled on a little brown sugar. Peel and chop those apples, into the butter to soften and carmelize a little. Add in the leftover oatmeal and heat through, Yum! Its not the diet plate but not terrible either and I am trying hard not to waste food.
