What's for Dinner, Thurs., Feb. 6, 2020

Cup of shiitake-mushroom-noodle soup.

Salmon with brown sugar glaze.

Pea salad (fresh peas, chopped hardboiled eggs, celery, onion).

Cherry berry kombucha.

Dessert: Rice pudding with blueberries and toasted almonds.
Maybe, just maybe, I'll cut one of the RG's Scottish shortbreads in half to go with it. Hot ginger tea to finish off the meal.

We are supposed to finally have some accumulating snow in Central Kentucky tonight, so it's definitely appropriate.

I don't fancy, but I don't use the "packets" of seasonings anymore since I discovered that I can actually season it myself and get a flavor we really like! I am a slow learner sometimes, LOL.

It's been cold here in North Texas and it just seems right.

I use my own seasoning combo too and fresh jalapenos and serranos too. Lots of cumin.

And Black Beans.

Not a native Texan, so I like beans IN my chili dammit.

Where in Central KY? I grew up in Western KY just north of Clarksville TN

And it’s surrounding areas. I live in Lexington, KY. I have never even heard of the beans being added later. I love black beans too!

Ham, kale, and mac-n-cheese

I'm dreaming of ham bone stock for bean soup.

=========

FLFC will be offered some ham as well as his scraps of beef, pork and chicken. We'll see what he decides to consume.

the key to an authentic red beans and rice is the hambone, cut across the marrow. Oh DAMN that is some good stuff.
