An Instantpot warning

I’ve run into several people now who thought the “warm” button in the InstantPot is for warming up cold food. It is, in fact, for keeping food that is already heated warm at a food-safe 150 degrees. If you take food out of the fridge, put it in the InstantPot, and press the “warm” button, it will not warm food quickly enough to prevent a lovely bacterial culture from colonizing your dinner and giving you food poisoning. It’s also not generally considered to be safe to reheat food in a crock pot. Always reheat food quickly.

The sautée function is under appreciated. The InstantPot is a very versatile beast. I have one of the early ones—more than five years old now—in regular use. I’ve always found it to be easy to use, but apparently can be confusing because I frequently need to explain that the warm button isn’t for warming food.
