(4,169 posts)My Dad's family is all Norwegian and Mom learned how to cook the Lutefisk. When i was growing up i could not eat eat it. Then in my late 30's I joined a Norwegian group and helped with the annual Lutefish dinner, a fund raiser for the group. I tried a bite every year just to see if my taste would change. Nope!

(55,019 posts)and ribbon candy, if I come across it. nobody around here likes them. Thanksgiving has more ick items (to me) - soggy bread (stuffing) and nasty overly sweet sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmallows.

(2,674 posts)My mother always made a mincemeat pie. When I get together with my sisters and brother, we always talk about the mincemeat pie, some(like me) loved it, others hated it.
I bought a jar of mincemeat and plan on baking a mincemeat pie to take to the family Christmas dinner on Wednesday.

(34,137 posts)Dad's mother, that is. Her sister, my great aunt also loved them but I noticed that she put a LOT of hard sauce on her slice. This was the great aunt who was a teatotaler who never learned that Mom's secret ingredient in her hard sauce was rum.
