Editing to add what I am having since I just decided.
I am making an herbed garlic bread what I will be using for French Dip Sandwiches (from the crock pot Burgundy Beef)
I had added a bit of beef stock when I cooked the Burgundy Beef and it makes a great a jus.

(31,170 posts)I'm going to make a French Dip sandwich from the crock pot Burgundy Beef.
I cooked it with a big splash of beef stock, and it made a great jus.

(31,170 posts)gets these loaves, but they are a dry-ish bread that I would never use for a regular sandwich, but they are perfect for garlic bread (and now French Dip). They get crispy, but not hard and absorbs liquids and butter really well.

(12,253 posts)No cheese but nice jus instead. Mr. Pup went out and picked up sushi for our dinner tonight. I pulled something in my sacroilliac and it's killing me. I just now hobbled my plate to the kitchen and when I sneezed (wasabi) on the way back, my hip gave out and I almost fell. This is a first for me. Any advice? Heating pads or ice? Enjoy your lovely Burgundy beef. I'm jealous!

(31,170 posts)I'm glad you didn't fall. I'd see a doc if you aren't feeling better soon.

(31,170 posts)I cannot watch tv or work at my desk without a cat attached to me. I even have a slide out on screen keyboard for when I cant type on the fullsize one due to cat bums blocking the space.
You dinner sounds good. Simple and yummy.

(29,098 posts)SO is having chicken salad and I'm having left over veggie soup......I may make a banana ice cream/smoothie for dessert later on in the evening. I have that great Blue Diamond Dark Chocolate Almond Milk, frozen bananas and I just got a supply of Powdered Peanut Butter. If you watch calories and fat there is nothing better to add to your smoothies for that Peanut Butter taste. Amazon has a great deal right now

On Edit: Full disclosure...Bell Plantations top execs do contribute to Republicans. I normally try not to support companies that don't contribute to Democrats but I haven't found a substitute for this product yet. It's really kind of addictive...

(31,170 posts)It's another one of those things that are really dangerous for me now. I can remember shelling and snacking on warm peanuts at a local restaurant while we waited for dinner when we first moved here. I wouldn't even be able to walk in the building anymore.
I didn't know about the Dark Chocolate Almond milk...that sounds intriguing!
The Greek Salad sounds good too. I love all those flavors. I have lunch envy!

(29,098 posts)It's certainly not as low in calories as their unsweetened vanilla which is my go to Almond Milk. But the dark chocolate has a good rich flavor and of course lots of sugar. I think 8 oz is 120 calories...But a little goes a long way. I use 8 oz, two bananas and 2 tablespoons of the peanut butter powder in my smoothies and that's for two servings.

(35,675 posts)We went out, as my spouse had just flown in from LA. we went to one of Newark's Portuguese restaurants--a very excellent one that we have been to many times before. Not inexpensive, but they always do it right.
Chicken Francese and shrimp, tossed salad with artichoke hearts, yellow rice, homemade thinly sliced potatoes that are like a potato chip, mixed vegetables and a big pitcher of red Sangria. It so hit the spot.
