What do you do for breakfast?

We tend to talk a lot about dinner ideas here, but I tend to graze overall, so I'm interested in other meal ideas. Protein's a biggie for me, so I've found some things I really like that fit the bill in the AM (when I stick to it).

Yogurt 'n berries.
Smoothies of all sorts.
Eggs, any style.
Sliced banana w/ peanut butter.
Grilled cheese sandwich.
English muffin w/ cheese and tomato.
Toasted PB&J.

Dinner left overs.

Juice
Milk
Coffee

But closer to lunch time. That's a lot of mushrooms, green onions, red bell peppers sauted in olive oil with a beaten brown yard egg and that's it.

Sometimes I'll add kale, spinach, zucchini or tomatoes if I need to use them fast.

Other days, it's smoothies for breakfast, the really powerful ones that keep me satisfied way past lunch.

If I've overdone the coffee in the morning I end up having hashbrowns with the eggs. Or leftovers from the night before, LOL. That's not the best choice for me.

Then went to scrambled eggs, fresh avocado slices in a spinach tortilla.

Now I'm just down to the egg and avocado, reducing it some times to only the avocado. If I eat it first, I'm not hungry for the rest, but figure I need the protein.

I did make a lot of kefir smoothies for a while, now I'm trying to leave milk products out.

Has been coffee + gingersnaps!

Awoke late today, showered + went to newly found HUGE Chinese buffet, so FIRST THING I had was skewered chicken pieces; grand finale? 'Pepper' shrimp, served w shells, pepper not apparent, large + great tasting!

Tomorrow? Who knows!

plus cheese and fruit. We have eggs every morning here at our house. Poached, scrambled, fried, over easy, sunny side up and boiled are all options!

Sometimes, we make pancakes from scratch and we also like to make muffins.

Of course, coffee is an essential part of breakfast!

This morning I am in a hurry so it's saltines and swiss cheese, and I will bring an orange in with me to work.

Can be eaten either cold or hot. I can eat the Alpen cinnamon-apple brand because the carb count is very low. It's the only cereal I can really eat. And it's yummy.

Then it depends, could be cereal, eggs and ham, migas, bacon and eggs with English muffins, or a sausage wrap.
Depends on how energetic I feel.
sometimes I go down to the Mexican bakery on the corner and get a pastry. Every now and then the Sunflower market has these giant soft pretzels.

Hadn't thought of toasted pb&j for breakfast. It's a common midnight snack for me.

It's also my favorite meal to go to a restaurant.

Discovered a new restaurant yesterday, Wild Eggs. http://www.wildeggs.com/node/5

Sixth photo down was what I had. Dang that was good!!!!

I like those kinds of breakfasts but can't have them much due to trying to keep my cholesterol in check.

What we have here these days is oatmeal! Yum, it is so good. Today I made it by sauteeing little crabapples in olive oil margarine with brown sugar and walnuts. Sprinkled this over the oatmeal. That and a cup of Good Earth tea sweetened with honey was breakfast for me.

Some days we have oatmeal with just bananas or chopped apple.

My husband has lowered his cholesterol by 40 points since last fall by doing this!

Usually oatmeal with some apple sauce or a banana cooked it it. On weekends I might occasionally have an egg or two on some whole wheat bread or some Greek yogurt with some Uncle Sams or Kashi cinnamon squares mixed in. I always have two mugs of coffee with soy milk

I make frozen fruit smoothies, although they're more like "milkshakes", and no dairy. I also add some herbal supplements I can't swallow due to their size (quercetin, ginkgo) add some honey to mask that, maybe some powdered ginger if I want a little 'pep', and I'm done for the next few hours.

My base fruit is always frozen bananas, having learned that from the vegetarian cookbook "The American Vegetarian Cookbook from the Fit For Life Kitchen" by Marylin Diamond. Then I add whatever other frozen fruits I feel like as I keep several on hand, such as peaches, berry mix (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries), and pineapple. I just prepped a whole pineapple this evening for having frozen pieces on hand. As I use a VitaMix, I don't core it, so I get the extra fiber from that

I'm starting to make my own nut-milks again, so I keep a pint or two of that on hand for making the smoothie-shakes. Lots of healthy stuff!

And now, I think I'll go make a healthy mixed drink

OR

Oatmeal (either w/ raisins/dates & walnuts stirred in, or peanut butter & flaxseed)

In either case, 8oz of milk to wash it all down with.

There for awhile when I felt like cooking in the a.m., I'd scramble an egg and cook it into a crepe shape. Then I'd smear a spoonful of pizza sauce on it and top it with diced cooked veggies (peppers, onion & zucchini) and top with a bit of shredded cheese and cracked pepper.

and what I had for dinner the night before.

Today, 2 boiled eggs, strawberries and the rest of the kids fruit smoothie. Madster requested the boiled eggs so I put in 4. She only eats the whites, so have to scoop out the yolk and clean with a paper towel before serving. Also had one peice of bacon before T-man scarfed the plate down.

When the kids are at their dads I usually eat:

scrambled egg with cheese or some sort of veg or
yogurt and granola or
melon and cottage cheese or
Thomas thin bagels with cream cheese

coffee and V-8
