(6,581 posts)I think his arguments for why we need this type of product are very valid, and honestly, I think that it would be better for our society as a whole if we could break the connection between the food product "meat" and the live animal, be it through better simulated meat substitutes or through in vitro techniques.

(29,098 posts)Trader Joes makes a fabulous "Pulled" Chickenless Barbeque. It's in the refrigerated section. I see they are also making a chickenless version of their famous frozen Orange Chicken. It's in my freezer now.
It's a matter of taste I think when it comes to these products. I love Boca Vegan Burgers but those are pretty much the only burger substitutes that I like enough to buy I also like the Morningstar mock sausage patties but they contain egg white last I looked and I try to steer away from those that contain animal protein, as I am a 5 day a week Vegan.

(32,086 posts)Lunch includes one of those Gardein fake chicken slices Bittman wrote about. They are pretty decent. I actually like them better than real chicken. Looking forward to trying the LikeMeat one of these years. The new fake meat products that are out now are making it easier and easier for me to slip back into the vegetarianism I practiced during my 20s.
